Wrist brace ยท St. Louis

Wrist brace for wrist strain and hand numbness

A wrist brace keeps the wrist tipped slightly back on a firm stay, on the palm side or the back of the hand. It lets a strained wrist or a sore tendon rest at a protected angle and often calms hand numbness and pins-and-needles overnight.

What is wrist brace?

We fit the brace to your wrist size and teach you how to put it on.

How does it help?

It keeps an overworked wrist resting and can settle hand numbness that wakes you up.

How should it feel?

Firm and comfortable. Your fingers and thumb still move freely.

How do you use and look after it?

Wiggle and use your fingers and thumb while it is on. Take it off each day to wash and to check your skin.

When should you call us?

  • If the brace rubs a sore spot, or your fingers turn cold, blue, numb or puffy, phone us

How long does it take?

Your physician’s order sets when you wear it, most often overnight and during tasks that bother the wrist.

Before you go home we fit the item, have you practice putting it on, using it and removing it, and hand you printed steps. Before you leave, you show us you can do it. Call (314) 886-5092 if it hurts, fits poorly or breaks.

What to remember

  1. Fingers and thumb keep moving.
  2. Look at your skin every day.
  3. Cold, blue or numb fingers: call us.

Show us you have it: Fit the brace on your wrist in front of us and tighten it just enough. Anything still unclear? Ask, and we will go over it with you again.

Other devices in the program

It belongs to the physiotherapy program for PRP and joint care at PRP STL. A physician orders and watches over every treatment, and nothing starts unless one can step in right away.

Need help with fit or use?
